Are tattoos painful?Getting a tattoo can feel different for everyone, depending on how much pain you can handle, where you're getting it, and how detailed the design is. Some spots, like your ribs or ankles, might be more sensitive because of more nerve endings, but areas with more muscle or fat like your thighs or upper arms usually hurt less. Most of my clients find the process pretty bearable and love how their tattoos turn out. If you're worried about pain or have a low pain threshold, just let us me know at the start of your appointment. I will do my best to keep you comfortable and breaks can be taken where needed

Where is the most painful area to get a tattoo?Pain varies by person, but areas with thinner skin, more nerve endings, or less fat, like the ribs, ankles/feet, sternum, fingers/hands and inner biceps, are generally more painful.
-
Can I use a numbing cream before getting a tattoo? We advise against numbing creams as they can interfere with the tattooing process and affect quality. They change the skin's texture, making it harder for artists to work accurately especially with fine needles. Instead, ensure you're well-rested, hydrated, and have eaten a nutritious meal before your session.

How much does a tattoo cost? The cost of your tattoo will vary depending on the size, placement and design. The best way to get an accurate price estimate for a tattoo is to fill out the booking form and I will then be able to advise you on the price.

How long does a tattoo take to heal?Tattoo's usually heal in 1-2 weeks on the surface, with deeper layers taking 3-4 weeks. You will need to refrain from swimming/bathing for at least 2 weeks, along with avoiding sun exposure/sunbeds. Never pick the scabs off a healing tattoo as this will result in colour loss and patchy healing. We will provide you with full aftercare information on the day of your appointment.
-
Can I get a tattoo if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?Your health and safety are our main concerns. You will need to avoid tattoos during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Pregnancy weakens your immune system, making infections more likely. The pain and stress from a tattoo could also affect you and your baby. For breastfeeding mothers, there is a risk of infection and tattoo substances might pass into breast milk, so you will need to wait until you have completely stopped breastfeeding to have a tattoo.

How old do I have to be to get a tattoo?By law you must be over 18 to get a tattoo in the UK. You must be able to produce a valid form of photo ID.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?Of course! Sometimes we need a bit of moral support. I just kindly ask that you only bring one person along with you to your appointment. Strictly no under 18's allowed in the studio for tattoo sessions.
-
Will I see my design before my appointment?Due to my work load larger designs will be sent over to you a couple of days before your appointment, sometimes the night before if i'm really busy. For smaller tattoos, these will be shown to you at the start of your appointment. Once you have seen your design you can request any tweaks/changes. Please note I do not do any designs without appointments being booked in. This is to protect my time it takes to draw them up.
-
How long does a tattoo take? The time your tattoo takes will vary depending on size, placement and detail. I will be able to give you an idea of how long the piece will take at the time of booking after submitting your enquiry form. Please note that we can only give an estimate on the time a tattoo will take as each design is custom.

Do you offer tattoo cover-ups?I specialize in fine line tattoos, which are intricate and delicate, so I don't offer cover-up services. Fine lines do not effectively cover existing tattoos. If you'd like new art or fine line designs, I can do this for you however for cover-ups, please consult an artist that specialises in that area.

What should I do to prepare for my tattoo appointment? Here are some essential steps to follow: 1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Hydrated skin receives ink better and heals faster. 2. Get Rest: Ensure you get a good night's sleep before your appointment. Well-rested individuals often handle the tattooing process and any discomfort better. 3. Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine & blood thinners: 24 hours before your session, steer clear of alcohol, caffeine and blood thinners as they can thin your blood, making the tattooing process more challenging and your skin more prone to bleeding. 4. Eat Well: Have a substantial meal before you arrive. This will help maintain your energy levels throughout the session and keep your blood sugars up. If you are prone to fainting or dizziness, this is a key step! 5. Dress Comfortably: Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can easily expose the area to be tattooed. Consider wearing older garments that you don’t mind potentially getting ink on. 6. Moisturize Your Skin: In the week before your appointment, keep the area to be tattooed well-moisturized. However, don’t apply lotions or oils on the day of your appointment. 7. Avoid Sun Exposure: Keep the area to be tattooed out of the sun to prevent sunburn, which can make tattooing more painful and complicated.
